The Prosecutors Chamber of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) Friday nominated seven European Delegated Prosecutors (EDPs). Five of those appointed are prosecutors from the Sofia Regional Prosecution Office - Anna Kamenova, Svetoslav Milushev, Valentin Angelov, Monica Mihaylova-Mitova and Todor Kuyumdzhiev. The other two are Brigita Bairyakova from the Plovdiv Regional Prosecution Office and Georgi Balkov from the Pleven Regional Prosecution Office.

Seventeen persons in total were competing for the nominations.

The entire appointment procedure will only be successfully completed once the European Public Prosecutor's Office approves the persons selected by the SJC Prosecutors Chamber.

For nearly two years, Bulgaria has been failing to fill the country’s quota at the EPPO of 15 EDPs. In the first procedure for nominating EDPs, the SJC nominated only four candidates. In the second procedure, five were nominated. In the third procedure in 2022, there were no candidates. In the fourth procedure, the SJC nominated three candidates and another three quit.
