The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry called on Bulgarian citizens to avoid visiting areas in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan where mass protests in support of the Palestinian national cause are taking place and large crowds gather in connection with the latest escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in October 2023, the Situation Centre at the Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

Currently, such protests are mainly organized in the capital Amman, the cities of Zarqa, Irbid and Russeifa, as well as in localities in the north-west of the country. Tourists should avoid visits to the border regions with Israel and the West Bank and to the towns listed above. In the capital, do not visit the areas of the Old City (so-called Downtown) and the Al-Husseini Mosque in the Old City and the Al-Qalouti Mosque in the Al-Rabiah district.

Security and public order forces are taking the necessary measures for the peaceful conduct of the demonstrations, but increased vigilance is recommended, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry also said.
