Nicola Conte & Latin Jazz Band to Stage Show in Veliko Tarnovo

Nicola Conte and his Latin jazz band will be visiting Veliko Tarnovo. The concert of the Italian father of bossa nova-infused jazz will take place in the Summer Theatre of Veliko Tarnovo on September 24 with free admission, organizers said on Monday.

The musical celebration is a gift for the residents and guests of the city and is part of the programme to mark 115 years since the declaration of Bulgaria's Independence.

Nicola Conte is well known as the most successful Italian jazz producer, performer and DJ of the last 20 years. The Italian from the city of Bari is known for his exceptional contribution to acid jazz. He is the founder of the cultural movement, the Fez Collective, which involves several creative musicians and friends with similar interests in cultural issues, emotional dreamers, jazz enthusiasts, connoisseurs of "nouvelle vague", obsessive collectors of vinyls, design and graphic experts, lovers of cultural rhythm and books written by revolutionaries like Jean-Paul Sartre and Boris Vian.

Conte's music combines bossa nova themes and melodies drawn from Italian film music of the 1960s along with ethnic Indian music. The collaborations he deftly presents to the audience caress the senses, connoisseurs say. Nicola Conte's first album was called “Jet Sounds” and was released in 2000. The single “Bossa Per Due” gained international acclaim and was an underground hit at the same time, according to the organizers.
