BMF Port Burgas had registered record-high container traffic volumes in the first half of 2023. The company plans to further develop its infrastructure with the support of the Three Seas Fund initiated by the Polish Development Bank, BMF Port Burgas officials said at a press conference in Burgas on Wednesday. BMF Port Burgas is a privately owned, multi-purpose port operator of Burgas East-2 Port Terminal and Burgas West Port Terminal.

The press conference was attended by representatives of the Polish Development Bank, a key shareholder in the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund. The fund focuses on infrastructure investments in Central and Eastern Europe. On the Bulgarian side, the Bulgarian Development Bank is a key shareholder. A year ago, the Three Seas Fund acquired a significant stake in BMF Port Burgas.

In the first half of 2023, the total cargo turnover at BMF Port Burgas reached almost 3 million tonnes. The port recorded a 12% increase in container traffic volumes compared to the same period in 2022. These volumes represent 49% of the total market share in Bulgaria.
