A total of 702,000 students from first to 12th grade will start the new school year in Bulgaria on September 15. Some 57,000 first-graders will enter school for the first time, Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov said at a briefing at the Council of Ministers.

Denkov recalled that with the adoption of the state budget for 2023, an additional BGN 524 million were provided to increase the salaries of teachers and teaching staff by 15%.

Together with the e-Government Ministry, the Education Ministry is working hard to continue the digitalization of the educational process. All textbooks up to seventh grade will be digitized by the first day of the new school year, the Prime Minister assured.
