The construction of a monument to the Bulgarian revolutionary Vasil Levski was completed in Taraclia - a city in Moldova inhabited mostly by ethnic Bulgarians. The monument was installed in front of the entrance of the Youth Cultural Centre, which will be named after Levski.

The official opening of both sites is scheduled for September 22, in the presence of Vice President Iliana Iotova and other guests from Bulgaria, the Taraclia Regional Council said.

The monument was donated by the Association of Bulgarians around the World (ABS) and other sponsors, including the Order of the Knights Templar in Bulgaria, the chairman of the World Parliament of Bulgarians at the ABS, Hristo Hristov, as well as the sculptor of the Levski monument - prof. Dimitar Rashkov, who did not ask for any money for his work, said earlier the ABS Chair Mladen Stanev.

In addition, in March this year the Ruse Municipal Council voted to allocate BGN 10,000 from the municipal budget for the construction of the Levski monument in Taraclia. A concert was also organized in the Danube town to support the construction.
