The Council of Ministers allocated BGN 7,182,616 for four national programmes in the field of science at its regular meeting on Wednesday, the Press Centre of the Council of Ministers said. The funds are for the implementation of the next stages of the programmes. 

One of the main objectives of the National Programme "Stimulating publication activity in reputable international scientific journals and open access to scientific information" is to increase the number of scientific publications with Bulgarian authors in reputable scientific journals, refereed or indexed in the global databases Web of Science or Scopus.

The National Programme "Enhancing Research Capacity in the Mathematical Sciences" promotes higher education, science and innovation in the mathematical sciences by carrying out activities for interaction between education, science and innovation. For the second phase, BGN 700,000 is allocated.

The aim of the "Intelligent Livestock Production" programme is to provide innovative methods and tools for intelligent and efficient livestock production, reducing the human resources required and the environmental impact. BGN 1,200,000 have been approved for the implementation of the next (third) stage.

A total of BGN 1,500,000 is allocated under the "Intelligent Crop Production" programme to continue research aimed at applying artificial intelligence in agriculture, improving soil management, water quality and reducing the use of fertilizers and pesticides.
