Parliament adopted conclusive amendments to the Health Insurance Act, removing the six-month deadline for the election of a new governor of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) in case of early termination of the term of office of the governor by the National Assembly.

There Is Such a People MP Andrey Chorbanov's proposal to the National Assembly to adopt a resolution to elect a new NHIF governor no later than 2 months following the termination of his term was rejected.

The MPs agreed to have the NHIF deputy governor serve as interim governor until the next governor is elected, pending the enactment of the amendments. The law shall enter into force retrospectively, as of July 12, 2023.
