Bulgarians in Taraclia, joined by the mayor of Ruse Municipality (on the Danube), marked the 186th birth anniversary of the revolutionary Vasil Levski (1837-1873). Representatives of the regional authorities, members of the public and guests from the Bulgarian city paid floral tributes at the memorial plaque of the hero of Bulgaria's National Liberation Movement (1869-1875).

Patriots had put together a photo exhibition about Levski. Taraclia District Chairman Ivan Paslar, Krasimir Andreev, Charge d'Affaires of the Bulgarian Embassy in Chisinau, and Ruse Mayor Pencho Milkov addressed those gathered with words of gratitude for the Apostle's legacy.

Milkov said: "Not everyone can be an awakener or a unifier like Levski, but everyone can make his choice and do something for the good of the community. Be proud followers of the Apostle."

After the ceremony, the delegations from Taraclia District and Ruse Municipality visited a Youth Cultural Centre in front of which a monument to Vasil levski will be put up.
