The Dimitar Peicev Gallery in Taraclia will host an exhibition of 25 paintings by three artists from the city of Cahul, Moldova, for the first time. One of the artists, Daniel Donici, uses oils to depict the life and traditions of the Moldovan people.

His canvases explore different directions and genres including abstract, portrait and still life. His works often feature traditional carpets, Christmas decorations and families dressed in folk costumes.

Donici told BTA that he started painting 12 years ago. Since then, he has developed his own style, one that is influenced by traditional art and that is suited to show the most beautiful part of the Moldovan culture. The artist shared: "I hope that my paintings will bring the Moldovan and Bulgarian people even closer to each other and show how similar they are".

Donici, who currently teaches at the art school in Cahul, is organizing an exhibition titled Come Back Home. His works have been on display in Moldova, Romania and Czechia.

Along with Donici's canvases, the Taraclia gallery will also exhibit works by his former teachers Ion Ciuta and Natalia Ariton from July 6 until mid-August. Admission will be free for two days.

The Taraclia gallery named after artist Dimitar Peicev was founded two months ago. Today, it hosts more than 50 paintings and some 30 pieces by ceramics artist Tamara Grecu.
