site.btaProjects Funded by BGN 63 Mln Implemented in Kardzhali Region in 2014-2020 Programming Period
The 2014-2020 programming period saw Kardzhali Municipality with the highest number of approved and financed European projects: 254 projects worth nearly BGN 63 million. BGN 53 million were grants, said head of the Kardzhali District Information Point Dora Hristova during a local conference on the project "Europe in Bulgaria: A Common Future" at the BTA National Press Club in Kardzhali.
The forum gathered experts to discuss possibilities for development through cohesion policy. The project is implemented by the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) with support from the European Commission.
Hristova specified that a total of 675 contracts were concluded with BGN 170 million awarded to 525 beneficiaries. Some 75% of the funds is in the form of grants.
During the last programming period, EU projects for over BGN 9 million were implemented in Krumovgrad Municipality, the Municipality Deputy Mayor Abidin Hadjimehmed. Hadjimehmed pointed out the importance of the instrument that his local government built to support farmers as well as small and medium-sized enterprises. The Deputy Mayor confirmed that his Municipality is ready for the 2021-2027 programming period and expressed hope that the programmes will become more accessible.
