site.btaSummer Season on Vitosha Mountain Starts on June 3

The official start of the summer season on Vitosha mountain will be given on Saturday, June 3. Three ski lifts will operate every weekend in favourable weather conditions until the end of the season, Vitosha Ski said on Monday.

In less than an hour, residents and guests of Sofia will be able to reach the peak of Vitosha, Cherni Vrah, with the new combined tickets "From the city to the top of the mountain", covering the fares for Cabin Lift Simeonovo and Vitoshko Lale 1 and 2.

In addition to hiking and walking, the mountain offers excellent conditions for mountain biking, with numerous routes of varying difficulty levels suitable for both beginners and advanced riders. For the convenience of all cyclists, the lifts are equipped with special hooks for hanging the bikes, and the transport of bicycles will be allowed on the Cabin lift for the first time in years.

Different types of combination tickets, family packages, cyclist passes, paragliding passes and a host of different activities will be offered to the visitors throughout the summer, and the motto of the season is "Rediscover Vitosha".

The traditional Home Mountain Enduro bike race will officially kick off the season this weekend.

Traditionally, the race is part of the Sofia Municipality's calendar and is supported by the Sofia European Capital of Sport Foundation, and for the ninth consecutive year it will draw some of the best mountain bikers from all over Bulgaria.

Participants will have to tackle 5 separate race sections with a total length of over 13 km and 2,000 m of negative gradient. All stages are of a high level of difficulty and include numerous steep sections, roots, rocks, jumps, speed straights and other interesting natural and man-made obstacles.

Participants will be divided into a total of 8 different categories by gender, age, and proficiency, and there are many prizes in store for the winners.
