Sofia, May 19 (BTA) - Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev proposed to
caretaker Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov and State Agency for
National Security (SANS) chief Dimitar Georgiev to assemble once
again an interdepartmental team for the general elections on
July 11. Its purpose will be to improve the collaboration and
coordination among the institutions, so that Bulgaria can hold
legal parliamentary elections, the Prosecution Service said in a
 press release on Wednesday.

The interdepartmental team is assembled before every national
election in order to improve the collaboration and coordination
among the institutions, and ensure the legality of the
elections. Over the years, the work of these teams has yielded
sustained good results and practices that are entirely
beneficial to the Bulgarian citizens. The team is active from
the day the run-up campaign is launched until 30 days after the
Central Election Commission announces the official results from
the vote, Geshev explained.

According to the Prosecution Service, thanks to the good
coordination and exchange of information among the institutions
during the April 4 general elections, a number of crimes against
the political rights of the citizens were averted. The team has
also gathered evidence for the activity of crime groups,
established to buy votes for a certain candidate, party or
coalition, and charges were pressed.

The Prosecution Service also informed that during the April 4
parliamentary elections, under the Measures Against Money
Laundering Act, it has frozen over 425,000 leva, and seized
another 383,000 in various currencies. In doing so, it has
deprived the "vote market" of over 800,000 leva.
