Bulgaria’s Bozhidar Saraboyukov was eliminated in the men’s long jump qualifications at the Paris Olympics on Sunday.

The 19-year-old Olympic debutant placed 14th with a leap of 7.87 metres. He finished just four centimetres shy of a place in the final that will take place on August 6 and will be contested by the top 12 competitors.

Saraboyukov made two unsuccessful attempts before landing his jump without touching the board.

The Bulgarian athlete set a personal best of 8.22 metres at the 2023 European Athletics U20 Championships in Jerusalem, where he won a silver medal.

The first two to reach the qualifying standard on Sunday were Radek Juška of the Czech Republic with 8.15 meters and Miltiadis Tentoglou of Greece with 8.32 meters.
