site.btaTransport Minister: There Is No Chaos with the Vehicle Inspection Process
Caretaker Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Gvozdeykov, who spoke to reporters here on Monday, said that there is no chaos with the vehicle inspection process. The Minister was in a repair shop to get acquainted on the spot with the new control system for annual motor vehicle inspections.
Gvozdeykov said that the quality system is now operational, which is why the human factor and the option to enter manipulated data manually have been taken out of the equation.
The Minister stressed that a newly appointed working group will make a proposal for regulatory changes. He added that a report should be presented for approval to him on Friday.
As of July 22, meters at the checkpoints automatically transmit measurement data electronically to the Road Transport Administration's Executive Agency system. This ended the possibility of manually correcting data related to exhaust emissions and braking effort of vehicles. However, experts have sounded the alarm that vehicles, mainly petrol cars, are widely failing to cover the standards.
