October 8 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 516,510, after 18,808 tests identified 2,302 new infections on Thursday, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 12.2 per cent.

Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 526 positive tests, followed by Plovdiv Region with 226 cases and Varna Region with 149.

The active cases are 49,352. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 5,374, including 463 in intensive care.

The infected medical staff have reached 14,724.

Another 1,572 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 445,653.

Ninety-four fatalities were reported, and the death toll now adds up to 21,505.

With 7,716 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 2,577,957 vaccine doses have been administered so far and 1,354,896 people are fully vaccinated and 3,840 have received a booster jab.
