Sofia, October 15 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 534,312, after 18,725 tests identified 3,183 newly infected persons on Thursday, of whom 85.3 per cent are unvaccinated, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 17 per cent.
Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 915 positive tests, followed by Plovdiv Region with 310 cases and Varna Region with 205 cases.
The active cases are 57,057. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 5,867, including 493 in intensive care. Of the 721 newly hospitalized patients, 90.2 per cent are unvaccinated.
The infected medical staff reached 14,989, with 51 new cases over the last 24 hours.
Another 1,486 COVID-19 patients recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 455,153.
A total of 98 fatalities were reported, of whom 93.9 per cent were unvaccinated, and the death toll now adds up to 22,102.
With 8,064 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 2,615,154 vaccine doses have been administered so far and 1,377,516 people are fully vaccinated, and 6,970 people have received a booster dose. RY/DD
