Sofia, August 11 (BTA) - The President will not issue a decree adding a new member of the Central Election Commission (CEC) put forward by the Bulgaria without Censorship party, the President's press secretariat said in a press release on Monday. The decision not to issue a decree was made based on the arguments set out at a meeting of the Legal Council with the President held also on Monday.

The members of the Legal Council concurred that the texts of the Election Code pertaining to CEC's establishment contain contentious, unclear and contradictory provisions. The members of the Legal Council recalled that the effective provisions of Election Code do not lay down time limits, or terms and procedure whereby the composition of the CEC may be complemented.

The members of the Council recommended that the next Parliament improve the election legislation.
