Transport Ministry: 4 New E-Services Related to Cybersecurity Now Available
on Network, Information Security Portal

Sofia, September 8 (BTA) - Four e-services related to
cybersecurity are already available on the network and
information security portal, the Bulgarian Transport,
Information Technology and Communications Ministry said Monday.

These services are related mainly to preventive actions by the
administration aimed at providing information security. The
state institutions can already receive automated bulletins for
threats to their information systems and corresponding
recommendations for counteraction. It will be easier for the
users of the new e-services to inform of incidents in their
networks.

In the last years, cybersecurity has become increasingly
significant in modern economies and state governance not only on
the global but also on the national scale, Deputy Transport, IT
and Communications Minister Kamen Spasov said. He launched a
training of the employees at those ministries which will use the
new e-services through the network and information security
portal.

From the start of the year to the end of August, there were over
1,800 attempts at overcoming the security mechanisms of the
information systems on and from the Bulgarian Internet, such as
password theft, virus transfers and other attempts.  This year
244 of the cases were of high level of threat: to state
institutions, big organizations and enterprises. In 2013 the
alerts were over 9,000. No losses and damages were established
as a result of these attempts.

Around 36 per cent of the attacks were of the malicious software
type, which causes damages and affects a given computer's
performance. Viruses are often transferred through files
attached to e-mails. Twenty-five per cent of the threats were
denial-of-service attacks (mass attacks against a server or
computer).
