Sofia, September 10 (BTA) - The total revenues from nights spent
at accommodation establishments in July 2014 reached 227.9
million leva or 9.2 per cent up from July 2013. An increase was
registered in the revenues from both Bulgarians (20.9 per cent)
and foreigners (6.8 per cent).

A total of 2,923 accommodation establishments (hotels, motels,
camping sites, mountain chalets and other establishments for
short-term accommodation with more than 10 bed-places)
functioned in Bulgaria in July 2014. They had a total of 129,400
rooms and 289,400 bed-places. Compared to July 2013, the total
number of accommodation establishments increased by 6.7 per cent
and of the bed-places in them by 3.8 per cent.

At 4,854,200, the total number of nights spent at all
accommodation establishments in July 2014 was 3.4 per cent less
than in the same month of 2013, the greatest decrease (9.8 per
cent) being reported by three-star accommodation establishments.

In July 2014, 54.3 per cent of all nights spent by foreign
citizens and 23.1 per cent of all nights spent by Bulgarians
were at four- and five-star hotels. Three-star accommodation
establishments registered 27.7 per cent of all nights spent by
Bulgarian residents and 33.3 per cent of all nights by
foreigners, while in the rest of accommodation establishments
(one- and two-star) they were 49.2 and 12.4 per cent,
respectively.

In July 2014, arrivals at all accommodation establishments
decreased by 4.0 per cent from the same month of 2013, reaching
916,900. Bulgarian guests accounted for 38.5 per cent of all
arrivals as most of them (73.8 per cent) spent the nights at
one-, two- or three-star hotels, averaging 3.6 nights per
person. Foreigners' arrivals totalled 563,600, and 56.9 per cent
of them spent nights at four- and five-star hotels, averaging
6.2 nights per person.

In July 2014, the total occupancy of bed-places at accommodation
establishments was 55.0 per cent. Occupancy was highest at
four- and five-star accommodation establishments, 66.1 per cent,
followed by three-star establishments, 57.0 per cent, and one-
and two-star establishments, 38.9 per cent. Compared to the same
month of 2013, the occupancy of bed-places decreased by 3.8
percentage points. The steepest decline, 5.3 percentage points,
