EU Funds Coordination Council Adopts Maritime and Fisheries Programme 2014-2020

Sofia, September 19 (BTA) - The EU Funds Coordination Council
considered and approved the draft Maritime and Fisheries
Programme 2014-2020 before sending the document to the European
Commission, the Government's press service said.

The Maritime and Fisheries Programme 2014-2020 is complied with
six priorities of the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund
(EMFF) and is oriented towards enhancing the competitiveness and
the environmental sustainability of the sectors of fisheries
and aquaculture. It will help increase employment and intensify
fishery activities. The financial resource of the programme
totals 113,543,226.75 euro, including EMFF contribution to the
amount of 88,066,622 euro and national co-financing of
25,476,634.75 euro.

"The funds under the prorgramme provided via European solidarity
aim to achieve dynamic, sustainable and competitive development
of the sector in the 2014-2020 period, which is complied with
environment protection," Agriculture and Food Minister Vassil
Groudev said quoted in the press release.

The Maritime and Fisheries Programme was the only one of the
programme documents specified in the Partnership Agreement,
which was not sent to the Commission.

Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the management of EU funds
Iliana Tsanova voiced satisfaction with the fact that they have
made up for the considerable delay in regards to the programme.
"This was an important task of the caretaker government with a
view to acceleration of the preparation of the next programme
period and enhancing communication between the country and the
European Commission." Tsanova said that talks with the
Commission under the other programmes are going on in accordance
with the established schedule. The progress on the talks under
the operational programmes will be reported next week. /VI/TK/
