Rammstein Guard-8
Sofia, September 25 (BTA) - The Bulgarian Air Force joined the
NATO exercise, Rammstein Guard-8, the Defence Ministry said. The
exercise will be conducted in the air space of Bulgaria,
Romania and Greece in the period from September 22 to October 3.
The purpose is to enhance the countries' capacity to act in the
conditions of radioelectronic disturbances.
A training of this kind is organized for a fourth year in a row,
the Defence Ministry said. Bulgaria's air force participates in
partnership with the air force of Italian. On the part of
Bulgaria, participating are MiG-29 and MiG-21 air crews,
air-defence units, radar posts and command points. The Italian
air force is represented by three strike planes, Tornado, and
three multi-target fighters, Eurofighter Typhoon.
This has been the first time that Eurofighter Typhoon and
Tornado aircraft take part in a military exercise on Bulgarian
territory. NATO radar jammer aircraft are also expected to
