National Council on Migration Policy Will Start Operating Next Year - Deputy PM

Sofia, December 29 (BTA) - A National Council of Migration
Policy will start operating as of the beginning of next year,
Deputy Prime Minister for European Policy and Institutional
Affairs Meglena Kuneva said quoted by the Cabinet's press
service on Monday. It will be co-chaired by Deputy Prime
Minister Ivailo Kalfin. The Council will have as its objective
to develop and implement an overall strategy on migration flows
- from their restriction at the border, through migrations
accommodation in centres to intensive integration of people that
 have been granted protection.

The management of the State Agency for Refugees (SAR) requires a
structured approach, which should focus, among other things, on
integration of refugees and not only on their temporary
accommodation and ensuring of food and medical services, said
Kuneva commenting on the replacement of SAR Chair Nikolai
Chirpanliev with his deputy Vassil Vurbanov. "We expect from
Vassil Vurbanov, as a man familiar with the everyday problems of
the accommodation centres, to carry out urgently the necessary
actions in view to the heavy winter conditions expected in the
following days and for the overall improvement of the management
of the funds of the national budget and the EU financing
provided to these facilities," said she.

Regarding the decision for Chirpanliev's replacement, Kuneva
said that she appreciated his efforts for the management of SAR
in the conditions of increased migration pressure.
