Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov Confers with UNESCO Director General Bokova


Sofia, January 12 (BTA) - Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov on
Monday conferred with UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova who
is paying an official visit here, Mitov's ministry said

Mitov and Bokova strongly condemned the attack on the French
satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, voicing a conviction that the
international democratic community should be united in the fight
against threats to security and peace. "Europe should show
unity and should not give in to attempts for division. Diversity
is Europe's strength not a weakness," said Mitov.

The two discussed the preparations of a campaign in support of
Bokova's bid as United Nations Secretary General from 2017 to
2021. They underscored the significance of establishing an
efficient mechanism for coordination between the Foreign
Ministry and the Bulgarian diplomatic missions, which will
implement the campaign.

Also, the two discussed the preparations for the observances of
UNESCO's 70th anniversary marked in 2015.
