Economy Minister, Ambassadors Discuss Promotion of Economic Relations


Sofia, January 13 (BTA) - Economy Minister Bozhidar Loukarski
had a meeting with the ambassadors of USA and Indonesia on
Monday to discuss promotion of bilateral economic relations, the
Economy Ministry said.

Loukarski received US Ambassador here Marcie Ries and the two
discussed measures for boosting trade and economic relations
between Bulgaria and USA.

Loukarski voiced confidence that negotiations on the
Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) will be
successfully completed and familiarized the diplomat with the
economic priorities of the Bulgarian Government. Ambassador Ries
urged for the introduction of e-government including in the
sphere of public procurement. Ries invited Loukarski, along with
representatives of Bulgarian companies, to take part in the
SelectUSA forum , which will take place in Washington on March
23-24 and will offer a possibility for foreign investors to meet
representatives of the US business and Government.

Loukarski also conferred with Indonesian Ambassador in Sofia
Bunyan Saptomo. "Indonesia is an important economic partner of
Bulgaria and we will keep on maintaining these well established
economic relations," said Loukarski. One of Bulgaria's goals is
to secure a foothold on markets outside the EU, such as the
Asian one. The interlocutors also discussed initiatives for the
promotion of bilateral relations and the upcoming economic
forum, Trade Expo, in Jakarta, which is held every year in
October. Ambassador Saptomo suggested to appoint three honorary
consuls in Varna, Bourgas and Veliko Turnovo. In May, the
Indonesian Deputy Trade Minister is expected to visit Bulgaria.
