Ad-hoc Parliamentary Committee to Check Condition of Energy Sector by End of January 2015

Sofia, February 19 (BTA) - An eight-member ad-hoc parliamentary
committee will check the condition of the energy sector and the
reasons for the imbalance within it as at January 31, 2015. A
decision to this effect was taken on Thursday by Parliament on
the proposal of ABV MP Kiril Tsochev.

The committee will be headed by Patriotic Front Co-Floor Leader
Valeri Simeonov. Ataka MPs, who had nominated Magdalena Tasheva
for the position, reacted sharply to Simeonov's election and
were warned by National Assembly Chair Tsetska Tsacheva that
they would be expelled from the plenary hall.

Apart from Simeonov, the committee also includes Valentin
Nikolov (GERB), Tasko Ermenkov (Bulgarian Socialist Party),
Ramadan Atalai (Movement for Rights and Freedoms), Martin
Dimitrov (Reformist Bloc), Georgi Nedev (Bulgarian Democratic
Centre), Magdalena Tasheva (Ataka) and Luchezar Nikiforov (ABV).

Tsochev pointed out the following motives for the establishment
of the committee: the poor management of the state-owned
companies, the lack of adequate control, the prevalence of
private corporate interests over the state policy on many
occasions and the lack of transparency in decision-making.
