Central Bank: Bulgaria's Banking System Has High Liquidity, Is Independent of Negative Developments
in Neighbouring Countries

Sofia, June 29 (BTA) - The Bulgarian National Bank said on
Monday that Bulgaria's banking system has very high levels of
capital adequacy and liquidity which guarantee its stability,
normal functioning and independence of negative developments in
neighboring countries. The statement comes after Sunday's
decision of the Greek government to impose a bank holiday and
capital controls.

Steps taken by Greece's government and central bank have no
legal force in Bulgaria.

The central bank also said that Bulgaria's banking system,
including subsidiaries of Greek banks, is financially and
operationally independent of other countries' banking systems
and that Bulgaria's banks hold no Greek bonds or debt.
