Health Minister Moskov Undertakes to Withdraw Controversial Text about Hospital Privatization until Consensus Is Achieved

Sofia, July 1 (BTA) - Health Minister Peter Moskov has agreed
that a controversial text in the law allowing the privatization
of hospitals will be withdrawn until a consensus on the matter
is reached, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said during
Wednesday's blitz Question Time.

Borissov explained that this morning he, Social Minister Ivaylo
Kalfin and Moskov attended a meeting of the parliamentary floor
leaders at which they sought support for the health and pension
reform. Because this concerns 10-15 years in the future, maximum
parliamentary and public consensus is being sought and Moskov
undertook to withdraw this bill, regardless of his own
arguments, Borissov said.

The Prime Minister noted that the funds in health care have
risen by billions in several years. 'Bulgaria as a state spends
over 4,000 million leva and another 48 per cent make additional
payments. This means that about 8,000 million leva are fed into
the system. If the system is not reformed now, the figure will
become 4,500 million leva but things will be the same and people
will be displeased again,' Borissov said.
