National Control Directorate Removes 400-Plus Illegal Construction Works since January 1, 2015

Sofia, July 2 (BTA) - The National Construction Control
Directorate (NCCD) authorities have removed more than 400
illegal construction works since the beginning of 2015,
including 28 in Roma neighbourhoods, the Ministry of Regional
Development and Public Works said in a press release.

In June alone, the NCCD authorities removed approximately 60
illegal construction works, of which 12 in Roma neighbourhoods.
Another 60 or so works are to be removed in July, including some
30 works in Roma neighbourhoods, of which 20 in the Kremikovtsi
Quarter of the Gurmen Village (Southwestern Bulgaria), which
recently became the scene of anti-Roma protests. Local people
claim they are often victimized by thieving Roma, many of whom
live in unlawful homes built in the last few years.

"The removal of illegal construction works in Gurmen is not
extraordinary and unusual but is part of the NCCD's routine
work," the press release reads.

Other illegal construction works due for demolition in Roma
neighbourhoods are in Pernik, Krivodol Municipality, Pazardjik,
Samokov and Sofia.

Illegal construction works are also removed in dam lakes' flood
plains, along the Black Sea coast, in the resort complexes, and
in the central parts of cities. Eight illegal construction works
have been removed since the beginning of the year in the Iskur
Dam flood plain, and five are being removed in the Kurdjali Dam
flood plain and four in the Stouden Kladenets Dam flood plain.
The last two of a total of 20 illegal construction works have
been removed in the Dobroudja Camp Site in Shabla Municipality
(on the Black Sea). Four illegal construction works have been
removed in Chengene Skele near Bourgas.

Illegal construction works in the Iskur Dam flood plain and in
the Roussalka Holiday Village in Kavarna Municipality (on the
Black Sea) are due for demolition in the coming months.
Execution of the last of nearly 400-plus orders for the removal
of cable networks countrywide is forthcoming, as well as of
enforceable orders for the removal of mobile telephone
operators' base stations, the press release says.
