Patriotic Front Continues to Support  Government

Sofia, July 3 (BTA) - The Patriotic Front (PF) continues to
support the Government's programme for sustainable governance,
PF Co-Chairman Valeri Simeonov said Friday. He added, however,
that in the next three months the PF will exercise strict
control over the implementation of the commitments made for the
unresolved issues related to conventional crime, preventing the
electricity price's increase and putting an end to misuses in
the energy sector.

This position comes two days after the end of PF's ultimatum to
the Government to meet seven conditions or lose PF's support.
The conditions included urgent measures against conventional
crime; a vote on PF-proposed revisions to the Elections Code
(including one to make voting mandatory or at least introduce a
requirement for voter registration, and harsher sanctions
against vote buying); extension of the fence along the border
with Turkey as a deterrent against illegal entries in Bulgaria;
a commitment not to increase electricity prices; legislative
measures to crack down on illegal timber harvesting; and making
institutional decisions to solve the problems of expatriate
Bulgarians.

In June, the Patriotic Front held many meetings with the other
formations in the ruling coalition, the Prime Minister and
ministers. After the meetings, the PF said that the activities
carried out by the Cabinet were satisfactory in five and
unsatisfactory in two of the seven problem spheres.
