Bulgarian Red Cross Sends 80 Child Refugees on Summer Camp near Veliko Turnovo

Veliko Turnovo, North Central Bulgaria, July 4 (BTA) - Nearly 80
child refugees are summer camping near Veliko Turnovo on a
initiative of the youth organization of the Bulgarian Red Cross
(BRC), regional BRC head Dimiter Roussev told BTA. Two groups of
30 children each, aged 7-13 have already completed their stay.
The first group was made up of children with disabilities.

A third group of child refugees from Syria and Iraq is expected
to arrive on Monday. They will be under the care of 20
volunteers of the Bulgarian Red Cross Youth.

The children have Bulgarian classes, visit the historic
landmarks in Veliko Turnovo and get involved in outdoor
activities.

The majority of children speak Bulgarian well and such camps
help them adapt to Bulgarian conditions, said Roussev,

The BRC initiative is implemented with the financial assistance
of the Velux Foundation.
