Result of Greek Referendum Is Bad for Bulgaria - RB's Radan Kanev
Dobrich, July 6 (BTA) - The result of the referendum in Greece
is unfavourable for Bulgaria because it implies acute
destabilization of a very important neighbour - both in
geopolitical and economic terms, Radan Kanev, Reformist Bloc
Co-Floor Leader and Chairman of the Democrats for Strong
Bulgaria political party, told a news conference in Dobrich.
"We hoped that the result would be different but this is the
choice of the Greek citizens not our choice. The destabilization
of a country like Greece, which is of such an importance for
us, is bad news in any respect. At the same time, we should be
ready to avail ourselves of the situation in economic terms,"
Kanev also said. In his opinion, now Bulgaria and Romania are
the only stable countries in Southeast Europe and there are huge
possibilities before them. The outcome of the Sunday referendum
in Greece confirms this position.
"Whether Bulgaria will be able to avail itself of this situation
in order to industrialize its economy, to increase tangibly the
inflow of foreign investments and to open hundreds of thousands
of new jobs will depend on whether we will give a sign that we
are a country, where there is justice and not the opposite,"
Kanev noted. Therefore, the indisputably important question now
is whether there will be sufficient majority to support the
proposed changes in the Constitution, he added.
