20 Kg Heroin Seized at Danube Bridge 2

Vidin, on the Danube, December 12 (BTA) - Bulgarian border authorities seized 20.26 kg of heroin and arrested two Polish nationals who were transporting the drug in a Polish-registered minivan inspected at the Danube Bridge 2 checkpoint between Bulgaria and Romania, the Customs Agency in Sofia reported on Saturday. The vehicle, bound for Poland, was checked by a mobile customs unit on the night between Friday and Saturday.

When the minivan arrived, the behaviour of the two men travelling in it aroused suspicion in the customs officers. Assisted by border police, they escorted the vehicle to a special area for thorough inspection. They found the heroin in a secret compartment under the floor of the van. It was wrapped in 40 packets.

Pretrial proceedings were instituted into the case under the supervision of the Vidin District Prosecution Office.
