Bronze Seuthes III Portrait, Panagyurishte Gold Treasure Most Frequently Invited for Exhibitions Abroad

Sofia, December 31 (BTA) - The bronze portrait of Thracian King Seuthes III from the collection of the National Museum of Archaeology has already become among the artefacts discovered in Bulgaria most frequently invited to participate in prestigious exhibitions abroad, the Ministry of Culture said.

From July 28 to November 1 the bronze Seuthes III, discovered by Bulgarian archaeologist Georgi Kitov (1943-2008), was included in the "Power and Pathos: Bronze Sculpture of the Hellenistic World" exhibition at the Getty Centre in Los Angelis, United States.

Before that the bronze Seuthes III was the focus in the spring exhibition of Thracian art at the Louvre.

New invitations are also arriving for the participation of the most popular Thracian treasure found in Bulgaria, the gold set of vessels discovered in 1949 near Panagyurishte (Central Bulgaria).

Italy, Croatia, Turkey and Morocco also want to see Seuthes III, while the Hermitage in Russia and the British Museum have also shown interest in the Thracian treasures and the latest discoveries of Bulgarian archaeologists.
