Rescuers from Six Countries Take Part in International Exercise for Flooding Protection in Montana

Montana, Northwestern Bulgaria, March 12 (BTA) - An international exercise for protection in the event of flooding started here, organized by the Directorate General for Fire Safety and Protection of the Population of the Interior Ministry. Teams from Germany, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Bulgaria work out actions and coordination in the event of flooding.

The training takes place in six different locations: three local reservoirs, the Ogosta River, a nearby village where the swollen Danube has already reached the local levee and the subsurface water is filling basements and gardens, and the headquarters of the task force for activating the regional plan for protection in the event of disasters.

The training also involves representatives of more than nine institutions which carry out various activities in the event of flooding.
