Petya Purvanova Appointed Chairperson of State Agency for Refugees

Sofia, March 16 (BTA) - The cabinet appointed Petya Purvanova to head the State Agency for Refugees, the government's information service said on Wednesday.

Purvanova served as interior minister in the caretaker cabinet headed by Marin Raykov /March 2013 - May 2013/. She holds a master's degree in German from the Sofia University and a master's degree in law from the New Bulgarian University. For more than ten years Purvanova has headed the department for international cooperation in the Interior Ministry. At the moment she is head of the academic administration of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. She has also served as an advisor of deputy prime ministers Meglena Kuneva and Roumyana Buchvarova on interior affairs, migration and shelter.

The previous director of the State Agency for Refugees Nikola kazakov was relieved of the post on February 22.
