Bulgarian Construction Branch May Participate in InfrastructureProjects in Turkmenistan

Sofia, March 17 (BTA) - Bulgarian construction companies and producers of construction materials may participate in the implementation of infrastructure projects in Turkmenistan. The bilateral cooperation in this sphere is among the prospective sectors for the development of the economic relations between the two countries, Bulgarian Regional Development and Public Works Minister Liliyana Pavlova said here Thursday ahead of the signing of a protocol on  the 3rd session of the Bulgarian-Turkmen Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.

Pavlova and Turkmen Minister of Economy and Development Eldash Sheripov co-chair the session, which takes place in Sofia on Thursday and Friday.

Pavlova recalled the agreement signed between the two countries' competent bodies in the sphere of construction, according to which the Bulgarian Construction Chamber can establish a consortium of companies willing to participate in infrastructure projects in Turkmenistan and assist them in the observation of the Asian country's specific procedural conditions.

Turkmenistan is impressed by the opportunities and variety of construction materials produced in Bulgaria, Pavlova noted. This is a prerequisite for the companies in this segment of Bulgaria's economy to also participate in the process by supplying materials or establishing production bases on site through the Bulgarian Construction Chamber, she added.

The diversification of energy sources, transport and logistics, ship construction and repairs, agriculture and agricultural produce, the chemical and textile industries, pharmacy, and tourism are also among the potential spheres of bilateral cooperation.
