Four Police Officers Arrested for Alleged Involvement in Human Trafficking

Sofia, July 29 (BTA) - Four police officers have been arrested in a special operation on Thursday night in the Western town of Slivnitsa, Prosecutor General Spokesperson Roumyana Arnaudova said on Friday.

According to investigators, the four suspects were taking bribes from migrant traffickers and were transporting migrants when off-duty.

The four officers are from Sofia. The authorities have found 150 euro in marked banknotes on the ring leader, Georgi Zhekov. The Interior Ministry's Internal Affairs department was involved in the operation.
