Bulgaria to Receive Six Million Euro from European Commission to Cope with Situation along
Borders

Veliko Turnovo, North Central Bulgaria, July 30 (BTA) - Bulgaria is to receive six million euro from the European Commission to cope with the situation along its borders, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said here on Saturday, adding that the aid is to be received next week.

The Prime Minister noted that during recent talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and with European Commissioners he requested any type of aid: people, equipment, vessels, helicopters, and thermal-vision devices.

Borissov said that for the time being there is no direct threat for Bulgaria's security thanks to the huge efforts that are being committed "but four borders plus the Black Sea are difficult to secure". In Borissov words, Turkey has been rendering sufficient support, no matter the problems there while the situation with Greece is "harder".

Borissov said that a joint meeting of the Bulgarian and Greek governments is to be held on Monday, one of the topics of which will be the situation along the border.

In Veliko Turnovo Borissov opened a new landfill for solid household waste, inspected ongoing repair works of a street and the progress of retrofitting of tower blocks.
