Three Syrians Terrorism Trial  Will Start on September 19 at the Earliest

Sofia, August 2 (BTA) - A trial against three Syrian nationals, who are charged with planning to join ISIL and the Muslim Brotherhood, will start on September 19 at the earliest. The specialized criminal court has postponed the trial date because the translation of the indictments was completed on Monday.

The specialized prosecuting magistracy submitted a terrorism indictment against three nationals of Syria to the specialized criminal court last week. The charges against Almohammad Abdulhamid, Al Abdallah Fadi and Al Fandi Yasim, are that as foreigners, nationals of Syria, they entered Bulgaria from Greece on February 7, 2016, with the purpose of participating in a crime - terrorism, as members of the terrorist organizations Muslim Brotherhood and ISIL, including a crime against a foreign country. The three were granted refugee status in Germany and were caught while attempting to illegally cross into Turkey.

Eight witnesses were questioned during the investigation, including witnesses with hidden identities. The phones of the three Syrians were seized and their contents, reviewed, which showed sufficient information about the men's radical intentions. Pictures were found too which proved the intent of the three Syrians to join the two terrorist organizations.

The defendants' lawyers wanted the case returned to the prosecuting magistracy over contradictions in the indictment. The court, however, dismissed these motives. The defence also believes that there are ambiguities in the evidence - it is unclear who talked to whom on the phone and to whom the discovered photographs belong.

The translations were also disputed, as the world "love" in Arabic could also mean "pills" and "wheat".
