Enterprising People of Troyan Place Municipality among Regions with Lowest Unemployment

Troyan, North Central Bulgaria, August 23 (BTA) - The enterprising ability of the people of Troyan and the integrity and accountability of the municipal administration take the municipality among the regions with the lowest unemployment in Bulgaria which in June stood at 5.4 per cent, Troyan Mayor Donka Mihailova said in a BTA interview.

Troyan's development revolves around three "pillars" - the proximity to the mountain, the folk traditions and crafts, and the enterprising character of the Troyan residents, Mihailova said. Among the challenges the Mayor singled out pay levels and jobs for high-skilled specialists and low-skilled workers.

Most of the Troyan businesses are in wood-working and furniture making. There are 320 small and larger furniture-making companies registered in the Troyan Municipality. Other well-developed sectors are the production of medicines, textile making, electric engines and parts for lathes.

There are a total of 1,626 enterprises in the Troyan Municipality. Nine new production lines were commissioned in the past year.

Mihailova said that high priority is attached to the development of infrastructure servicing manufacturers. The local taxes are stable. The Municipality participates in various programmes for temporary employment.

The manufacturing industry employs the greatest number of people, mostly in furniture making, followed by  textile making and the pharmaceutical sector, sales and repair works of vehicles, tourism, etc.

The most sought after jobs are furniture makers, workers  in the textile making and craftspeople.

Mihailova said that human disillusion, especially among people without work, is one of the hardest problems she daily encounters in her work.
