DOST Party Chairman Mestan: Formation May Nominate Runners for November 6 Presidential Elections

Kurdjali, Southern Bulgaria, August 27 (BTA) - Speaking at a news conference here on Saturday DOST Party Chairman Lyutvi Mestan said that the formation will register in the Central Election Commission for the November 6 presidential elections and may nominate its own runners for president and vice president. Mestan said that the important thing is for the candidate to be a prominent "Euro-Atlanticist" and that the best solution on national scale will be sought on this basis.

At the news conference Mestan dwelled on a number of issues.

Regarding the refugee problem, he said that the best defence "is not the barb-wire fence but the active dialogue protecting above all the Bulgarian national interest".

Mestan said that in September DOST undertakes "a big project" in which the formation will track the names of all people victims of the communist regime or people were repressed by it, and include them in an almanac. Mestan said that the task will be entrusted to prominent Bulgarian dissident Peter Boyadjiev who was present at the news conference.
