289 Undocumented Aliens Detained in Sofia Last Week

Sofia, August 30 (BTA) - A total of 289 undocumented aliens were detained in Sofia last week, the Interior Ministry said on Tuesday.

On Monday, law enforcers found 25 aliens of unestablished identity and origin in the area of Lions' Bridge. They were taken to the police which is trying to identify them.

Between August 22 and 29, police in the capital city checked approximately 1,500 foreign nationals, of whom 264 were undocumented. After detention at the precinct police departments and clarification of their origin, the aliens have been handed over to the competent authorities.
