Romanian Companies
Operate in Bulgaria
Sofia, November 11 (BTA) - Speakers at a business forum in Sofia Friday said that Romania is a major trading partner of Bulgaria, receiving the third largest share of Bulgarian exports to the EU after Germany and Italy and being Bulgaria's fourth most important trading partner in the world after Germany, Italy and Turkey.
There are 1,200 small and medium-sized businesses with Bulgarian capital in Romania and 1,600 such businesses with Romanian capital in Bulgaria, said Vladimir Penov, senior expert at the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency, as quoted by the agency's press office. These companies keep increasing, Penov added.
Romanian firms are quite active in Bulgaria's oil and gas sector, and also in furniture supply. The largest Bulgarian investor in Romania is battery manufacturer Monbat. Romanian suppliers for car maker Dacia/Renault are interested in working with Bulgarian metal producers. Others have considered opportunities in wine making, vegetable production and canning.
Romania is a very important source market for Bulgaria's tourist industry. Every year about one million Romanians visit this country's seaside, ski and spa resorts. A large number of Bulgarians are interested in travelling to Romania, Penov said.
The bilateral business forum, held at the Inter Expo Centre, was attended by some 40 Romanian and 90 Bulgarian companies. /LI/VE
