Rousse, on the Danube, November 13 (BTA) - Gale-force winds
reaching 100 km/h in northeast Bulgaria have left 148
settlements without power on Sunday, said the Energo Pro
electricity distribution company.

Some 37 villages in the Region of Silistra are without
electricity, followed by 33 settlements in Razgrad Region, 27 in
 Dobrich Region, 24 in Shoumen Region.

All emergency teams in the company have been equipped and
mobilized to fix the electricity supply. Additional resources
have been directed towards the most severely affected regions,
Energo Pro said.

Hurricane-force winds have interrupted the power supply in
Rousse and a few surrounding settlements on Sunday, Regional
Governor Valentin Kolev told BTA. The electricity distribution
company has dispatched teams to the sites to resume the supply.
There are reports of broken tree branches and billboards as
well.

The fire fighting service said that teams have been removing
obstacles from the road and a dangerous plank form an apartment
building rooftop.

The weather service reported that wind speed in Rousse has
reached 120 km/h.

Ferry boats along the Danube (Svishtov, Oryahovo and Nikopol)
have been suspended. Traffic is re-routed to the border
crossings in Vidin and Rousse.
 
The Port of Varna was also closed on Sunday due to the strong
winds, said the Vessel Traffic Management. MY
