President-elect Radev: I Will Work for Prosperous and Peaceful Bulgaria in Which Unity  Prevails over Divisions

Sofia, November 13 (BTA) - In his first remarks after winning presidential runoffs in Bulgaria by a wide lead over the candidate of the ruling GERB party, the Socialist-backed Rumen Radev said this is a new beginning for him and he is fully aware of his responsibility. "It will be the most important mission in my life: working for a prosperous and peaceful Bulgaria in which unity prevails over divisions from the past. Our differences are our wealth," the President-elect said.

"I remember my commitments and will stand by my words," he added.

Radev also said that in these elections democracy won over apathy and fear. "Despite the government's bluffs about an impending apocalypse, you voted for a change," he said as he thanked those who supported him.

"Bulgaria has a new political situation and there is nothing dramatic about it. Now the political players have analyses to make and be responsible," he added.

He congratuated Tsacheva on her result. "She was a worthy opponent," he said.

Radev was asked about his position on the EU sanctions against Russia. He said he will be "an active president" and will work closely with the government and the colleagues in the European Union for scrapping the sanctions against Russia.
