Bulgarian President Plevneliev Meets with Moldova's President-Elect Dodon

Chisinau/Sofia, November 16 (BTA) - Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev met here Wednesday with Moldova's President-elect Igor Dodon at the latter's request, said the Presidential Press Secretariat. The two leaders exchanged views on the situation in Moldova following the November 13 presidential elections and on matters from the regional, European and international agenda.

Plevneliev congratulated Dodon on his election and expressed hope that Moldovan people have chosen to support the efforts for broadening the traditional friendly relations between the two nations at all levels.

He stressed the need to continue key reforms in the country to restore the confidence of Moldovan people in the state institutions.

The Bulgarian head of State reiterated his satisfaction with the consent of the Moldovan authorities to broader Bulgarian diplomatic presence in the Taraclia District, which has the second largest overseas community of ethnic Bulgarians.

Plevneliev hopes that the Moldovan state institutions will implement a persistent policy allowing preservation of the national language and cultural identity of the Bulgarian national minority in Moldova.

He also expressed hope that the Taraclia Region will preserve its status during an ongoing regional administration reform.

Later on Wednesday, Plevneliev is scheduled to visit Taraclia and meet with local government officials and undergraduates of the Taraclia State University. On the agenda of the meeting will be prospects before the young and Moldova's European perspective.
