Movement for Rights and Freedoms Argue That President Plevneliev Has no Legal or Moral Right
to Form Caretaker Government

Sofia, November 22 (BTA) - The Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) believe that outgoing President Rosen Plevneliev had his term expired with the conduct of presidential elections on November 6 and all he has to do now is hand over the office on January 22. Plevneliev "has no right by law or by the ethical standards, to be part of the [ongoing political] process, including to form a caretaker government", said MRF leader Mustafa Karadaya after meeting with the President on Tuesday.

The two sides met as part of Plevneliev's consultations with the political parties aimed to prevent a crisis following the resignation of the government a week ago.

MRF see nothing extraordinary in the current sutuation. "The Constitution is clear about this. The procedures are crealy prescribed and we are headed to early elections," said Karadaya.

MRF reiterated their position that this Parliament depleted its options for forming new majorities with the very act of formation of the current ruling coalition.
