Sofia International Women's Club Organizes Its 22nd Christmas Charity Bazaar

Sofia, November 28 (BTA) - The International Women's Club Sofia (IWC) is preparing the 22nd edition of its annual Christmas charity bazaar. The event is due on December 4 and will feature over 60 world cultures.

The Bazaar offer countries a chance to showcase handmade crafts, clothes, cosmetics, traditional foods and much more. All proceeds will go to the Charity Foundation of the International Women's Club.

During the 22 years of its Christmas bazaar, the IWC has supported over 20 charitable causes and projects. Thanks to the funds collected during the 21st annual bazaar, the IWC Charity Foundation was able to fund 23 projects - four new and eighteen ongoing. The total amount of financial support was approximately 350,000 leva and it will affect the lives of over 2,500 people from the most vulnerable social groups in Bulgaria.

The IWC Charity Foundation is one of the biggest donors to the Soup Kitchen of Sofia and also supports the Teach For Bulgaria programme and the Association of Children with Onco-haematological Diseases, among other organizations and projects.

The official ceremony for the opening of the 22nd bazaar edition will have a programme of music and dance and will be open for visitors who purchase the special ticket of 40 leva.

This year's edition will add an open-air Christmas market which will offer more space to some national stands.

On the programme is a concert of popular Bulgarian performers which starts at 5 in the afternoon.

The organizers of the charity bazaar have prepared a quiz game for the visitors: they will receive leaflets and be instructed to collect in it stickers from all national stands giving the right answer to the questions in them. Every visitor who has filled out the leaflet will receive a gift and be entered in a raffle for three big prizes.

The Christmas charity bazaar will be held at Sofia's Inter Expo Centre.

The International Women's Club was established in 1989 as a support group for foreign women, primarily diplomatic or business spouses who found themselves isolated in Bulgaria. It has since grown into an organization which assists newcomers to Bulgaria, furthers knowledge and understanding of Bulgaria, fosters good will and friendship among club members, and gives financial and material support to the local community through charity projects.
