Culture Minister Visits France

Sofia, December 7 (BTA) - Bulgarian Culture Minister Vezhdi Rashidov is paying a brief working visit to France on Wednesday, his ministry reported. Rashidov will meet with France's Culture and Communications Minister Audrey Azoulay to discuss some of the priorities and the working programme of the Bulgarian EU Presidency in the first half of 2018.

The two will pay special attention to the decision to proclaim 2018 a European Year of Cultural Heritage and the forthcoming activities arising from that decision. Illicit trafficking in cultural property is another topic on the agenda of the talks.

Rashidov will also meet with Louvre Museum President-Director Jean-Luc Martinez to discuss the next steps in organizing a large Bulgarian exhibition in this major world museum and displays of selected Louvre collections in Bulgarian museums during the Bulgarian EU Presidency. These activities are being organized under a new five-year agreement between the Louvre and the Bulgarian Culture Ministry which was signed in Paris on March 31.
